This is going to be a quick one. The question is: Should I go natural? Now, I’m not here to give you as Yes or No answer, because to me the answer lies in your motives to go natural. What are your reasons to go natural? Forget about the “natural hair movement”, and natural hair being “in”.
Who you are as an individual, and how accepting you are of yourself or your hair should never be as a result of a trend. Going natural as a trend is the reason some quickly turn back to relaxers a short while into their natural hair journey. It’s funny because, being African, one would think natural hair should be the norm, but nope!
For many years, the reason I had natural hair was because the school I attended forbade relaxed hair. However, that didn’t stop us from taking sizzling hot combs to our hair in order to straighten it; and for years, unheeding of the resultant heat damage.
Fast-forward, natural hair is “in” and many people are deciding to embrace it, which is wonderful, but don’t switch up because you want to follow a trend. Have individuality, and if you feel in your heart that natural hair is what you really want, then go for it. However, if you’re not sure then I say wait just a little while longer because the hair on your head isn’t going nowhere but regret sucks!:) Lastly, if you’re just simply tired of the relaxers and having damaged thinning hair, then it couldn’t hurt to try natural hair.
